Traffic Information
From Airport
San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Oakland International Airport (OAK) are two airports near Berkeley, and are served by many U.S. and international airlines. There are several transportation options from the San Francisco and Oakland airports.
1. Taxi: Taxi fare is estimated to be $100 (including tips and surcharges) one way from SFO, and $70 (including tips and surcharges) one way from OAK.
2. Airport Shuttle: Fare starts from $17 for a one way ride from SFO to Berkeley and $30 for a round trip from/to SFO. Reservation is not required but recommended for rides from SFO to Berkeley. Other than that, i.e., rides from OAK to Berkeley or from a hotel in Berkeley to the airports generally requires reservations. Following are some websites providing online reservations.
3. BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit): It is the local subway system. One way fare from SFO to Downtown Berkeley Bart Stations is $9.85, and that from OAK is $2.5.
In SFO, BART is located near area G of the international departure hall. From international arrival hall, please go upstairs to the departure hall at Level 3. From domestic arrival hall, you may choose either walk to international departure hall or take the red line of AirTrain to the departure hall. If you arrive at OAK, please take the AirBart Shuttle in front of Terminal 1 and 2. It will take you to the BART station and the fee is $3. Please visit the following link for details http://www.bart.gov/guide/airport/inbound_oak
Please note that Bart lines are differentiated by destinations. From the airports, take the train to Richmond or Pittsburg/Bay Point, transfer at 19th Street Oakland if necessary, and get off at Downtown Berkeley Bart Station.For a ride from Berkeley to the airports, please transfer at McArthur if necessary. 4. In case you take train to Berkeley, the local train station is Amtrak Station-Berkeley
Local Public Transportation
AC transit operates buses in Berkeley. Adult single ride fare is $2.1. Useful lines within this conference time are
(1) 51B, which will take you from the train or subway station to all of the hotels marked on the map above. Interarrival time is roughly 10 minutes.
(2) 52, which can take you from University Ave (where majority of the hotels are located) to Etcheverry Hall, and from Etcheverry hall to all the hotels marked on the map. Interarrival time is roughly 30 minutes.
